Velvet Ice Cream is now hiring an experienced and safety-focused Driver Trainer to join our team. The Driver Trainer is responsible for training, coaching, and evaluating new and existing drivers to ensure safe driving practices, compliance with company policies, and adherence to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. This position plays a critical role in developing professional drivers, reducing preventable accidents, and promoting a culture of safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

·         Certified Driver Trainer or equivalent certification preferred.

•         Conduct behind-the-wheel training for new driver hires.
•            Evaluate driver skills through road tests, ride-alongs and provide coaching to improve safety and performance.
•            Coach drivers on safe driving techniques, defensive driving, fuel efficiency, and customer service.
•             Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
•             Perform road tests, driver observations, and follow-up evaluations.
•             Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
•             Deliver ongoing safety meetings and refresher training.
•            Assist with driver orientation and onboarding.
•             Stay current on transportation laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
•            Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization. 
•           Certified Driver Trainer or equivalent certification preferred.

Qualifications    

• ·         High school diploma or GED required; additional transportation or safety certifications are preferred.
• ·         Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• ·         Previous driver training or coaching experience preferred.
• ·         Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices.
• ·         Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• ·         Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
