Job Summary

The Plastic Process Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of plastic processing equipment and personnel, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. This role leads process technicians, supports troubleshooting, and drives continuous improvement in injection molding or related plastic manufacturing processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of plastic process technicians and production staff.
  • Set up, monitor, and optimize plastic processing equipment (injection molding machines)
  • Troubleshoot process, material, and equipment issues to minimize downtime
  • Ensure all production meets quality standards and specifications
  • Monitor cycle times, scrap rates, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE)
  • Train, coach, and develop technicians on proper processing techniques and safety procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues
  • Assist in new mold trials, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate production and process documentation
  • Support scheduling and staffing to meet production demands

Required Qualifications: Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required, technical degree or certification preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in plastic processing (injection molding preferred)
  • 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of molding processes, materials, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Workplace Conditions And Physical Expectations

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • May require off-shift, weekend, or on-call support
