Job Overview: Responsible for monitoring and negotiating the labor relations related to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), coordination of grievance procedures and represent the position of the company during arbitration or other labor negotiations. You will work with legal counsel and senior management in preparation of labor arbitrations--including witness and document preparation--and attends hearings. You will assist in the investigation and defense of complaints filed with the State and Federal agencies such as the EEOC and NLRB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate collective bargaining agreements at contract renewal and/or to resolve disputes. Analyze information, interpret contract language and evaluate results to choose the best solution to solve problems.
- Represent management in labor contract negotiations, arbitrations, mediations and legal actions. You will be the chief negotiator at the table with information on provisions of current contractual language and significance of proposed changes. Call or meet with union, company, government or other interested parties to discuss labor relations matters, such as Labor Management Meetings, contract negotiations or grievances.
- Monitor company or workforce adherence to labor agreements. Verify consistent application of the terms of collective bargaining agreements by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies/practices concerning wages, hours and working conditions. Assess the impact of union proposals on company or government operations.
- Investigate and evaluate union complaints or arguments to determine viability. Collect evidence for legal proceedings and assess risks to business operations. Make final decisions on second and third step grievances after investigating.
- Write letters related to labor relations activities such as letters to amend CBAs, letters of dispute or conciliation. Prepare reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, prevailing union/management practice, wage surveys, etc. for labor contract negotiations.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, NLRB, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules. Testify at legal or legislative proceedings.
Primary Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Industrial Management, or Behavioral Science, or related experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ extensive Labor Relations (organized labor/NLRA/NLRB) background and experience.
- Experience with human resources and traditional labor law principles, practices, procedures, regulations and CBAs.
- Ability to travel 25-50% of time.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
