ABOUT THE WORK
VehicleInspectors connects used-car buyers with local mechanics for pre-purchase inspections. Buyers book and pay online; we dispatch the job to inspectors near the vehicle. You accept the jobs you want, inspect the vehicle on-site or at your shop, and submit a photo-based report through our guided mobile app. We handle the customer, the payment, and the report delivery.
COMPENSATION (independent contractor, per completed inspection)
- Bronze inspection: $100
- Silver inspection: $140
- Gold inspection: $180
- $25 when the buyer purchases a live video walkthrough
Paid via free ACH direct deposit or Zelle after the report is accepted. No cost to join. No minimum job volume, no exclusivity.
CURRENT DEMAND
We have a paid inspection open in Huntsville today (2024 Ford F-150, Gold, $180) and are building coverage across North Alabama. Volume varies by market; this is supplemental, per-job income, not a salaried position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Verifiable automotive repair or inspection experience (ASE certification preferred)
- Smartphone capable of high-quality photos
- Inspection kit: flashlight, tire tread-depth gauge, battery load tester (CCA), brake pad gauge / rotor caliper, infrared thermometer, OBD-II code scanner. Gold-tier jobs additionally require a paint-depth gauge and an OBD-II scanner with live data.
- Reliable transportation to vehicle locations
- General liability insurance; ability to complete a W-9 and our Independent Contractor Agreement
- Professional communication with buyers and sellers
NICE TO HAVE
- Mobile mechanic setup
- European / EV / classic / commercial experience (we route specialty jobs to matching inspectors)
