QA Technician - Food Packaging

The QA Technician supports food manufacturing operations by performing daily quality assurance activities, primarily focusing on in-process inspections. Reporting to the QA Supervisor, this role works closely with Production to uphold product safety, GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements. The position requires accurate recordkeeping, effective communication, physical capability, and flexibility to work extended, weekend, and mandatory overtime hours when needed. Advancement opportunities may include QA Lead.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily QA functions and tasks as directed by the QA Supervisor.
• Conduct in-process quality inspections throughout food manufacturing operations.
• Monitor food safety requirements and communicate product safety issues and activities to Production.
• Verify compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and food safety guidelines.
• Support Production in following quality and food safety procedures and training requirements.
• Complete QA reports, records, and documentation accurately.
• Perform mathematical formulas and basic calculations, including percentages and proportions.
• Follow QA department directions, procedures, and organizational requirements with minimal supervision.
• Perform physical work, including lifting containers weighing up to 30 pounds on an intermittent basis.
• Work flexible, extended, weekend, and mandatory overtime hours as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Adequate ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate with all company departments.
• Ability to read and write reports and follow QA procedures and directions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, including percentage calculations and proportions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and complete duties on time.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical work and occasionally lift containers weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, extended shifts, and mandatory overtime when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in food quality assurance.
• Associate degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
