About the Position:

Vega Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead our estimating department and oversee the full preconstruction process. This is an opportunity to guide high-value masonry bids, mentor estimating staff, strengthen industry relationships, and directly support the company's profitable growth.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the complete preconstruction budgeting and bidding process for brick, block, stone, and related masonry scopes.
• Oversee the estimating department, set priorities, monitor deadlines, review estimates, mentor staff, and improve department processes.
• Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents; prepare and review detailed takeoffs, labor and material pricing, equipment costs, and subcontractor quotes.
• Lead high-value and high-risk bids, recommend bid strategies, and address financial, technical, schedule, and contractual risks through appropriate pricing, allowances, exclusions, and clarifications.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from vendors, material suppliers, and masonry subcontractors.
• Prepare bid forms, proposals, scope letters, clarifications, and supporting documents, and ensure complete, timely submissions.
• Develop conceptual estimates and budget pricing while maintaining strong relationships with general contractors and repeat clients.
• Coordinate project handoffs after award and support Project Managers with change-order pricing, cost analysis, and estimating questions.

Skills And Qualifications

• Five or more years of construction estimating experience preferred; masonry estimating experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead estimating activities, manage bid deadlines, and review complex estimates.
• Strong knowledge of plans, specifications, quantity takeoffs, labor productivity, material pricing, subcontractor scopes, and construction estimating or takeoff software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written, verbal, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with leadership, clients, vendors, office staff, and field teams.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred, but not required.

Additional Position Requirements:

• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally travel to deliver bids, attend pre-bid meetings, visit project sites, or participate in outreach events.

Compensation for Senior Estimator:

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience)
