Electro-Mechanical Engineer
Location: Glendale, AZ
Duration: 12 months
SUMMARY
The position is to perform engineering work designing, validating, developing and taking to production new designs. To include the design of LED luminaries, Indoor Lighting and Horticulture Lighting.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop performance specifications based upon marketing and regulatory requirements.
- Design parts and assemblies in Solidworks to meet the project performance specifications.
- Design and plan the layout of electrical assemblies.
- Examine, prepare and verify technical drawings and specifications of Electrical System to ensure that installation and operations confirm to standards.
- Conduct, analysis, experiment and design reviews to verify the designed parts fulfills specifications.
- Ensure design progression via three-dimensional modeling, thermal, optical and mechanical analysis (FEA- Finite Element Analysis), drawing release, testing plan and third party compliance.
- Coordinate with purchasing to ensure vendors are identified, quotations are being obtained and quality documents are being supplied.
- Act as liaison with existing and potential suppliers to ensure project tooling budget and product cost requirements are being met.
- Conduct design reviews as well as the Design and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA) sessions to identify project risks and develop response plans.
- Initiates drawing orders, engineering changes, samples and prototype request, purchase request and other necessary paperwork to complete project assignments and or maintain assigned product lines.
- Interacts with other departmental groups to complete other projects such as DFM, cost reductions, and internal improvements to ensure design integrity for improvement processes.
- Collaborate with manufacturing on product design, tooling development, and manufacturing processes for assigned projects, and assist pilot runs and first article inspections
- Recommend and implement corrective actions for deviations, PPIs, suggestions, variation orders, ECRs and drawing changes, and serve on Change Control Board as assigned
- Assist in patent searches, do necessary calculations, select materials, determine and coordinate tests, review and analyze costs, and solve design related problems
- Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Engineering Degree, BE, ME or EE
EXPERIENCE 5 years of product design experience or 3 years of product design in the lighting field.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to interpret standards
- Knowledge of Solidworks software designing and rendering
- Knowledge of OrCAD or equivalent software to generate schematics and gerber files.
- Knowledge of injection molded plastic, die cast and sheet metal designs
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of relational database such as Microsoft and MAS 500
- Knowledge of UL and IEC standards
- CSWP Certified
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
