Job Description
VectorField Network Services is seeking a technically skilled Field IT Technician responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise IT equipment, networking hardware, and server systems at client locations.
This role involves working with rack-mounted equipment, network devices, and specialized computing hardware. The technician will also assist with equipment diagnostics, hardware replacement, and system configuration under the guidance of senior engineers.
The position requires strong attention to detail, technical troubleshooting ability, and the ability to work independently in operational environments.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure rack-mounted servers, networking equipment, and related hardware
- Perform routine diagnostics and hardware troubleshooting on enterprise IT systems
- Assist with cable management, hardware replacement, and equipment upgrades
- Maintain accurate documentation for equipment inventory and maintenance records
- Perform basic network configuration and connectivity testing
- Support system monitoring and assist with incident response when hardware issues occur
- Follow strict operational and security procedures when handling infrastructure equipment
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- PHD degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 9 years of hands-on experience working with IT hardware or network equipment
- Experience installing or servicing rack-mounted servers and network switches
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems and basic command-line troubleshooting
- Understanding of Ethernet networking, VLAN configuration, and basic IP networking concepts
- Ability to safely handle and install equipment weighing up to 40 lbs
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network , CCNA, or equivalent
- Experience working in data center environments
- Familiarity with server hardware vendors such as Dell, HPE, or Supermicro
- Experience with fiber optic cabling and structured cabling systems
- Basic scripting ability (Bash or Python) for system diagnostics
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $17 – $18 per hour
