Senior Electrical Aerial & Underground T&D / Substation EstimatorWe are seeking a qualified construction estimator with experience in the Electrical outside utility industry. Primary responsibilities include timely and accurate development of bids and proposals for the management and construction of Aerial / Underground civil / Electrical T&D and substation installations. Typical projects include Aerial / Underground T&D and substation projects, relocation and replacement projects in the public ROW’s and private easements. The successful applicant will possess practical field knowledge of the methods related to this type of work including open excavation, Electrical T&D, & Substation work.What Do You Offer Us?Review work requirements with local operations managementResearch and define cost elements related to project construction including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractorsIdentify risks and develop project contingenciesPrepare written proposal outlining clarifications, exceptions and assumptionsPresent final draft to upper management for final determination and risk assessmentSubmit approved final bid to customer by stated due dateServe as business development representative/contact person with customers and vendors.Collaborate with Business Development team for large customer engagementsMaintain open lines of communication with existing customersActively pursue future customers/additional work and follow up on potential leadsSupport other regional business units by following leads as assignedNotate essential topics of discussion at the meetingAttain a thorough understanding of the scope of work including desired construction methods, project timelines and customer expectationsAsk project related questions and record customer responseVisit job location to assess site conditions and assess constructabilityProvide job related documentation to field operations, project management staff and back office/administrative staff as neededParticipate in contract pre-planning meetingsAssist in preparing and submitting project/contract deliverables to the customer as required by the contract and InfraSource internal requirementsProactively identify known or anticipated construction problems and suggest solutions to minimize cost and mitigate riskAssist field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders as neededNegotiate positive resolutions with customer on any disputes that may ariseMaintain files as back-up for estimate figuresWhat is Required?Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.Expert in MS Office Applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power PointExpert organizer (notes, files, documents, etc.)Proficient in Technical Writing/CorrespondenceProficient in reading prints and performing quantity and material takeoffsAbility to work independently on assigned tasks with minimum guidanceTeamworkSelf-motivatedThorough and effective communicationApplying TechnologyProductivityOpenness to ChangeAbility to develop and maintain relationships TravelExperience with B2W / Heavybid Software is not required, but would be a plusThis position is subject to the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol testing regulations as outlined in 49 CFR Part 382 and/or 49 CFR Part 199.
