Vector Surgical is an award-winning medical device company. Small, yet dynamic, we are growing quickly and looking for an outstanding individual for our R&D Specialist role. This is a hands-on role in our medical device R&D laboratory. Ideal candidates have a histology, ISO or lab management background and are eager and willing to learn. The R&D Specialist will be part lab tech, part project manager, and all scientist. Organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are a must. This successful candidate will be highly adaptable and eager to learn and address new challenges. Working closely with the Senior Officer of Research & Development, the R&D Specialist will collaborate on projects, managing tasks such as laboratory set up and clean up, documentation, archiving, materials procurement, and organization. This is a first shift, 100% on site position in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Candidates seeking full or part-time work will be considered.
Responsibilities:
Support Research & Development Initiatives
- Collaborate on research projects.
- Develop and maintain an organizational system for archiving research slides, cassettes, and other materials.
- Assist in collating and collecting data into standardized reports.
- Assist with materials procurement and expense report generation.
- Interact with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain samples and test new materials.
- Assist in developing and performing testing protocols, models, and prototypes.
- Assist in developing comprehensive market analysis, commercialization plans, and grant opportunities.
Support Laboratory Functions
- Perform Quality Assurance testing of lab and production related products manufactured on site.
- Maintain supplies and inventory.
- Maintain laboratory documentation and sample archive.
- Maintain a centralized collection of all chemical safety data sheets.
- Record data in electronic ISO laboratory system.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree
- Minimum one year of laboratory experience; must be knowledgeable about histology including sectioning, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining tissue.
- Preferred skills include procedure drafting, process validation, and quantitative analysis.
- Commitment to performing precise work and achieving high quality results; ability to follow directions and initiate ideas for improvement.
- Experience using personal protective equipment and practicing safe laboratory techniques.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and willingness to think creatively.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Positive, energetic style that supports the success of entire team.
- Willing and able to lift/move up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
