Position Summary

The Clean Room Inspector is responsible for ensuring that fabricated components, assemblies, and finished products meet all cleanliness, dimensional, and quality requirements within a controlled clean room environment. This role performs detailed inspections using visual and measurement techniques while strictly adhering to contamination control protocols, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.

The Clean Room Inspector plays a critical role in verifying product conformity for high-purity and particle-sensitive applications by conducting inspections at various stages including incoming, in-process, and final inspection. The position supports the organization's commitment to producing quality products while maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality management system requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), specifications, and work instructions.
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on components, assemblies, and finished products in a clean room environment.
  • Verify product conformity to engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Conduct detailed visual inspections for contamination, surface defects, damage, and workmanship issues.
  • Perform cleanliness inspections, including particle detection and verification of cleaning standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of inspection criteria and required documentation.
  • Ensure proper cleanroom packaging, bagging, labeling, and preservation requirements are met.
  • Record inspection results and maintain accurate records within ERP, quality management, and inspection systems.
  • Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming materials and products.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Verify calibration status and proper use of inspection equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with all cleanroom gowning, contamination control, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Perform product, process, and documentation audits as assigned.
  • Communicate quality concerns and inspection findings to supervisors, engineers, production personnel, and other departments.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, cleanliness, and inspection processes.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Proven experience as a Quality Inspector or in a related manufacturing quality role.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles and dimensional inspection methods.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to identify product defects, contamination, and nonconformities.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom operations, contamination control practices, and gowning procedures.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to use ERP, quality management, and data entry systems.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and standards, including ISO 9001.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow safety procedures, work instructions, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Education And Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of inspection, quality, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment within semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar industries preferred.
  • Experience with visual, dimensional, and cleanliness inspection processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of ERP and quality documentation systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components.
  • Ability to visually inspect fine details, surfaces, and contamination on products.
  • Ability to wear required cleanroom garments and personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to perform work requiring close visual concentration and sustained attention to detail.
