Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior / Principal Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Engineer to support a growing fleet of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Landfill Gas-to-Energy (LFGTE) facilities. This role will provide technical leadership across operations, maintenance, reliability, commissioning, and asset management, ensuring safe and efficient plant performance across multiple sites.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in industrial plant operations, maintenance strategy, CMMS systems, and commissioning/startup support, with the ability to improve reliability and operational excellence across a geographically distributed fleet.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Performance

• Provide technical support for RNG and LFGTE plant operations
• Monitor gas systems to optimize production, gas quality, and uptime
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment issues
• Implement improvements to enhance plant reliability and efficiency

Maintenance & Asset Management

• Develop preventive and corrective maintenance programs
• Manage asset performance using Maximo or other CMMS platforms
• Support outage planning and long-term equipment reliability
• Improve spare parts planning and inventory optimization
• Resolve recurring equipment failures through data-driven analysis

Plant Readiness & Startup

• Support transition of facilities from construction into operations
• Develop operational readiness plans and maintenance procedures
• Support commissioning, startup, and performance validation
• Identify gaps between project delivery and operational requirements

Project Support

• Partner with project teams during upgrades and expansions
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors during field execution
• Support technical reviews and startup activities
• Data & Continuous Improvement
• Analyze downtime and maintenance data for performance trends
• Create reports, KPIs, and dashboards for leadership
• Drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives
• Promote best practices across plant operations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline
• Senior Level: 5 years of experience
• Principal Level: 8 years of experience
• Experience in:
  • Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
  • Landfill Gas-to-Energy (LFGTE)
  • Power generation
  • Industrial process plants
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Plant operations
  • Maintenance strategy
  • Reliability engineering
  • Industrial equipment systems
• Experience with:
  • Maximo or other CMMS tools
  • Commissioning/startup support
  • Root cause analysis
  • Cross-functional leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct RNG or landfill gas facility experience
• Experience with compressors, gas treatment systems, and flares
• Reliability or outage program leadership
• Six Sigma or continuous improvement background
• Power BI and advanced Excel skills
