VCU Tappahannock Hospital, nestled in the scenic Middle Peninsula and serving the Northern Neck region, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist PRN. Key Responsibilities
Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
Licensed (or licensed eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist
Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Requirements For Continued Employment
Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation. Maintenance of licensure once granted.
Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
Experience REQUIRED
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist
Experience PREFERRED
Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility
Education/training REQUIRED
Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy
Education/training PREFERRED
Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy
Independent Action(s) Required
Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
Setting schedule and managing time.
Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
Completion of routine documentation.
Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team.
Customer interaction.
Supervisory Responsibilities (if Applicable)
Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.
Additional Position Requirements
Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager.
Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit’s organizational and staffing needs.

- Conduct thorough evaluations of referred patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

- Documentation:
- Accurately document evaluation results and services provided.
- Adhere to hospital and department guidelines for documentation.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
- Participate as a member of both self-directed departmental and interdisciplinary patient care teams.

- Clinical Instruction and Training:
- Provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students.
- Offer training and education to department and hospital staff.
