Chief Purpose of the Position
The Surgical Dental Assistant provides clinical support to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery providers during patient evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-operative care. The position is responsible for patient preparation, assisting with surgical procedures, monitoring sedated patients, maintaining clinical supplies and equipment, and supporting efficient clinic operations while ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of oral surgery procedures and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring and sedation protocols.
- Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and sterilization standards.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Education and Experience
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current BLS/CPR Certification.
- Current Dental Radiology Certification.
- One (2) year of surgical or dental assisting experience.
Preferred
- Dental Assisting Certification.
- Experience with oral surgery procedures and sedation monitoring.
Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience
