We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Part-Time Kennel Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients while supporting the veterinary team in delivering high-quality care. The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with animals in a fast-paced setting. Weekends will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, treatment areas, exam rooms, and common spaces in the hospital
- Perform daily cleaning duties including mopping, disinfecting, laundry, and waste disposal
- Ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of all pets in our care, including proper housing, bedding, and monitoring
- Feed, walk, and observe animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient handling and basic care as needed
- Perform basic grooming tasks such as bathing and nail trimming
- Answer phones and assist with client communication as needed
- Utilize computer systems for basic data entry, scheduling, and record updates
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience working with animals is a plus, but not required
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail, especially in cleaning and sanitation
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding role (standing, lifting up to 40lbs, bending)
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn veterinary software systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed
