JOB TITLE: Lead Intervention Support

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Vaughn Next Century Learning Center (“Vaughn”), located in Pacoima, is a large urban public school within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Since the early 1970s, low student achievement had been a pattern. In 1993, tired of being helpless and hopeless, Vaughn became the first conversion charter school in the nation and was authorized by LAUSD. The charter was renewed most recently in 2018. Vaughn has over 25 years of experience as a successful independent charter school serving the district’s low-income students. This previously failing elementary public school is now a full-service, community-based, K-12th charter school that assures all students are college/career ready, digitally literate, and globally competent.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Intervention Lead plays a critical role in supporting student success by coordinating and delivering targeted academic interventions. This position works collaboratively with grade-level teachers, resource specialists, and other intervention staff to ensure students receive timely, data-informed support aligned with school-wide goals. The Intervention Lead is responsible for co-planning instruction, facilitating student placement in intervention programs, and providing direct intervention services, particularly in language arts and mathematics.
In addition to instructional responsibilities, the Intervention Lead maintains accurate records related to student support, including intervention data, crisis lists, and documentation for Student Support and Progress Teams (SSPT). They also lead the development and implementation of 504 plans and facilitate related meetings. Through regular collaboration and data analysis meetings with intervention colleagues, the Intervention Lead contributes to a culture of continuous improvement and inclusive support for all learners.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with grade level Teachers to facilitate appropriate placement of students in intervention program.
- Consult & collaborate with grade level Teachers to discuss students’ progress
- Co-plan with grade level Teachers and Resource Teachers in the areas of language arts in the general education classroom and/or provide Math intervention outside general education classroom for students
- Consult and collaborate with other intervention Teachers in the areas of response to intervention policies, procedures, curriculum, and instructional strategies
- Maintain accurate school-wide intervention crisis lists, data teams, and other types of required documentation needed for SSPT and/or administration
- Meet at least once per month with other school intervention Teachers to analyze students assessments and progress
- Actively participate in intervention process (i.e., screening students who receive services by intervention Teacher and consulting with general education Teachers)
- Create and organize 504 plans, documentation, and conduct 504 meetings for qualified students
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proficient in reading, writing, and math
- 2 years experience working with students
DESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
- Experience working in a classroom setting or tutoring center
- Experience with small group presentations
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Experience and commitment to working collaboratively with staff, parents, and community
SALARY/BENEFITS
- $39.00/hr - $43.00/hr
- 195 work days per year, 7 hours a day

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Upon receiving an offer of employment:
- Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan) with the Department of Justice (DOJ)
- Must provide a Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) clearance within 60 days of employment
- Will be assigned mandated state training to be completed prior to the first day of employment
