Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Steel Fabricator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming pre-cut parts into precise, high-quality steel components through various fabrication processes. Your expertise in interpreting technical drawings, operating fabrication equipment, and adhering to safety standards will be essential in delivering exceptional results on construction projects and manufacturing assignments.
Duties
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to ensure accurate production of steel components.
- Operate welding equipment
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure precision in fabrication.
- Follow safety protocols rigorously to maintain a safe work environment while handling heavy machinery, welding operations, and metal materials.
- Maintain accurate shop math calculations for measurements, material quantities, and fabrication procedures.
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication shop tasks to meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Operate forklifts and other machinery safely to transport materials within the shop or construction site as needed.
Skills
- Extensive construction site experience with a solid understanding of structural steel fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and technical specifications.
- Skilled in operating welding equipment such as FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding techniques.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, metal materials handling, and assembly procedures.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop operations, machining processes, plasma cutting, and the use of power tools.
- Familiarity with safety protocols including OSHA standards for welding, cutting, grinding, and heavy machinery operation.
- Experience with construction projects involving steel structures or metal fabrications on-site or in-shop environments.
- Basic math skills for measurements, material calculations, and fabrication planning.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings confidently for precise manufacturing outcomes.
