Role Description The Senior Principal Engineer – SI/PI will lead signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) design, analysis, and validation for high-speed electronic systems in an on-site, full-time role based in Santa Clara, CA. This position is responsible for driving SI/PI architecture decisions, performing simulations and modeling, reviewing PCB layouts, and defining design guidelines to ensure reliable performance of complex boards and systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with hardware, packaging, and system teams to troubleshoot SI/PI issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing test plans, overseeing lab measurements, documenting technical findings, and mentoring engineering teams on best practices in SI/PI design. The role also contributes to continuous improvement of methodologies, tools, and workflows to support scalable, high-quality product development.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in signal integrity and power integrity, including simulation, modeling, and analysis of high-speed interfaces and power delivery networks.
- Hands-on experience with PCB design review, layout optimization, and guideline creation for complex, high-density boards.
- Proficiency with industry-standard SI/PI tools (e.g., SPICE-based simulators, 3D/2D EM tools, power integrity analysis software) and related workflows.
- Experience with lab measurement and validation, including oscilloscopes, VNAs, TDRs, and related instrumentation for SI/PI testing.
- Solid understanding of high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal design principles and their impact on system performance and reliability.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical efforts, mentor engineers, and communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience in SI/PI strongly preferred.
- Background working with large-scale product development or enterprise-level hardware programs; experience with customer-facing or consulting roles is a plus.
