What are the responsibilities and job description for the One-on-one School Paraprofessional position at Vassar Public Schools?
Summary of Position: Provide instructional, behavioral, and other support in an educational environment to an individual student. Primary responsibilities will be to assist with lunchroom monitoring, along with classroom and/or hallway support.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Provide proof of highly qualified paraprofessional:
- Basic Skills Examination Options As of October 1, 2017, the Michigan Teacher Examination Advisory Committee (TEAC) has determined that the College Board's SAT assessment will be Michigan's BSE. BEFORE registering for the SAT, please verify if you have already taken any of the following tests during the indicated administration periods:
- • The ACT, between 1/1/89 and 10/1/17;
- • The Michigan Merit Examination (MME), between 1/1/2007 and 01/31/15;
- • The Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Basic Skills Test (BST) or the MTTC Professional Readiness Examination (PRE) with a test date before October 1, 2017;
- • The SAT, taken on or after 3/5/16.
- If you have already taken one or more of these tests during the indicated administration dates, they may still be honored as the Michigan BSE.
- Experience working with children who have experienced trauma and/or are behaviorally challenged
- Agrees with the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality
Essential Position Requirements:
- Regular, Reliable, and Punctual attendance
- Ability to work independently
- Provide instructional support under the direction of the classroom teacher and assist the classroom teacher as needed.
- Supervise students both indoors and outdoors
- Maintain accurate records
- Implement supports outlined in IEPs, 504 plans, and BIPs
- Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
- Build strong relationships with students
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, administration, and parents.
- Use technology to enhance instruction

Pay Rate: As stated per the Collective Bargaining Agreement ($14.50 per hour)
