What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Vascular Technologist position at Vascular Institute of Virginia?
The Vascular Institute of Virginia (VIV) has three advanced outpatient facilities and one outpatient facility in Waldorf, MD (MVI) focused on minimally invasive, treatments for a variety of issues. The vision for our organization is to provide world-class care for our patients in an outpatient setting. We are seeking a friendly, highly motivated, goal oriented registered vascular technologist (RVT).
The RVT is responsible for assisting the physician with the diagnosis and treatment of vascular and arterial disorders by conducting vascular and arterial ultrasound examinations, looking for evidence of venous disease and arterial disease (PAD). Procedures performed in the office include vein ablations, sclerotherapy, as well as a wide range of Interventional Radiology procedures.
In addition, the RVT is responsible for maintaining equipment, recording test results, documenting preliminary findings, and ensuring that images are archived properly. The RVT will follow established guidelines and policies and procedures under the direction of a credentialed Vascular Interventional Physician. The ideal candidate will participate in direct health care to patients, and collaboration with consulting physicians and our multidisciplinary team. The RVT should be comfortable with patients that have a variety of health problems.
RESPONSIBILITES:
At the direction of the Physician, the duties of the RVT may include:
- Perform Patient Scans Independently
- Work in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referrals
- Collaborate with the Physician to respond to patient telephone calls regarding medical conditions and emergencies.
- Perform procedures as needed with the physician or NP
- Educate patients and /or families about medical issues and recommended medical treatments
- Perform EMR documentation; facilitate maintenance and evaluation of records by physicians
- Develop and maintain relationships with other practices, physicians and nurses to encourage
- As needed, assist the administrative staff in developing protocols to improve patient care
- Participate in all practice building activities
- Maintain the highest skill level for the safest and most effective delivery of treatment
- Provide the highest level of customer service to promote patient satisfaction
- Ability to work with management team and physicians
- Superb customer service skills, interpersonal skills and communication skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensure/Certification/Registration/Experience:
- Current BLS for the health care provider
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT/RVS)
- Certificate of completion from an accredited ultrasound program
- Able to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work as part of a team
- Minimum 3-year experience (EVLT experience preferred)
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. These include, but are not limited to, sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting, pulling, moving objects/patients >50 pounds, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to travel between Woodbridge, Fairfax, and/or Fredericksburg office locations as needed
