Job Title: Part-Time Hybrid Medical Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist
The Vascular & Vein Institute of the South is seeking a proactive, adaptable, and patient-centric Medical Assistant & Medical Receptionist for our recently opened office in Jackson, TN. This hybrid role requires a dependable, team-oriented professional capable of managing both clinical and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will primarily anchor our Friday clinic, seamlessly transitioning between clinical backing for our providers and vital front-desk coverage during high-volume clinical days and Ultrasound schedule days. Position may also permit working up to three days weekly at other locations. You will work alongside top vascular surgeons in the Mid-South, ensuring exceptional patient care and smooth operational flow.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties (Medical Assistant)
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with complex vascular examinations.
- Take and record vital signs, collect detailed medical history, and gather necessary health information.
- Prepare patients for physical exams, including safely assisting in removing bandages, dressings, and stitches.
- Ensure medical supplies are properly stocked, organized, and maintained.
- Maintain accurate, real-time clinical documentation within the EMR (Allscripts).
- Assist in preparing charts by pulling patient test results and reviewing pre-check-in information.
- Act quickly and professionally in clinical or emergency situations.
Administrative Duties (Front Desk)
- Provide a warm, professional environment by greeting patients upon arrival and checking them in for appointments.
- Manage front desk operations on Ultrasound (US) days to optimize patient flow.
- Complete necessary registration paperwork, enter data, and continuously ensure patient demographics and information are up to date.
- Verify health insurance eligibility and look up benefits.
- Collect patient payments and copays.
- Enter and scan medical records into the electronic charting system.
- Facilitate secure, efficient internal communication by sending electronic messages to nurses and providers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communication Excellence: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with patients, family members, and a multidisciplinary team of physicians in a tactful, empathetic, and professional manner.
- Multitasking & Efficiency: Exceptional organizational skills to manage clinical and administrative workflows simultaneously; must be able to multitask efficiently using dual-screen monitors.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong basic computer skills, including comfort with electronic medical records (EMR) and standard office technology.
- Autonomy & Initiative: Able to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiative to complete tasks, and adjust quickly to changing daily volumes.
- Patient Rights: A strict commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of all patient information (HIPAA compliance) to assure patient rights and privacy are protected.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certification: Medical Assistant (MA) Certification is Preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medical facility as a Medical Assistant and Medical Receptionist.
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
- Travel & Compliance:
- MUST have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for potential travel to other clinic locations as needed.
- Note: Training may be required in Memphis, TN if training in Jackson is not available.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
