FOREMAN IN TRAINING

About the Role:

The Foreman in Training position is designed to develop future leaders within the construction industry by providing hands-on experience and mentorship in managing construction projects and teams. The primary goal is to equip the candidate with the skills necessary to oversee daily operations on construction sites, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role involves learning to coordinate labor, materials, and equipment while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with safety regulations. The Foreman in Training will work closely with experienced foremen and project managers to understand project workflows, problem-solving techniques, and effective communication strategies. Ultimately, this position prepares the candidate to transition into a full Foreman role, capable of leading teams and managing complex construction activities independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of construction processes and terminology.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
• Strong commitment to safety and willingness to follow safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working on construction sites in a labor or assistant role.
• Completion of relevant vocational training or certifications related to construction.
• Familiarity with construction management software or tools.
• Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
• Strong communication and leadership potential demonstrated through prior roles or activities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in supervising and coordinating construction workers and subcontractors on site to ensure efficient workflow.
• Learn to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide daily construction activities.
• Support the enforcement of safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Help monitor project progress, report delays or issues, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Participate in daily briefings and communicate effectively with team members, suppliers, and management.
• Assist in managing materials, tools, and equipment to optimize resource utilization and minimize waste.
• Shadow experienced foremen to gain insight into leadership, conflict resolution, and team motivation techniques.

Skills:

The required skills such as blueprint reading and safety compliance are essential for daily site operations, enabling the Foreman in Training to understand project requirements and maintain a safe working environment. Communication skills are used constantly to coordinate with team members, subcontractors, and supervisors, ensuring clear instructions and feedback.
