Vartan Aero is an aircraft product support service provider looking to hire OEM Support Engineer with an aptitude in electronics and software troubleshooting at our Charleston, SC location where we provide support to Boeing and all of the big-name customers onsite.
The OEM support Engineer supports the airframe manufacturer or operator in the installation, power-up, software download, check out, troubleshooting and delivery of a new or retrofit airplane. They will also run tests on the system, as required by Engineering and approved by the owner/operator, to validate new databases, software changes, hardware design changes or other configuration modifications as may be required to deliver a stable system.

Tasks:
• Supporting an environment conducive to the successful installation of IFE/avionics and other aircraft electrical equipment on the flightline, integration lab, and during flight tests.
• Serve as part of a team of subject matter experts for IFE/avionics customer and site production contacts after initial product-focused training with travel as needed to customer facilities both domestic and international
• Coordinating with internal and external customers face to face, via email and chat functions, and via phone and/or conference calls
• Performing support, installation and configuration of IFE (in-flight entertainment)/avionics equipment/other electrical related tasks
• Reading and interpreting drawings, instructions, wiring diagrams, specifications, and other technical documentation to perform job functions
• Performing rework to harnesses and fiber optic cables such as pin replacements and fiber cleaning (training can be provided) Conduct, or assist as required, the system level testing according to the approved ATP (acceptance test procedure).
• Supporting the release of replacement until parts from bonded spares storage
• Tracking job tasks performed and invoiced all worked hours appropriately
• Coordinating with admin/management staff to perform project management functions for customers, partners/vendors and internal teams on scheduling, tracking, and reporting issues
• Serving as subject matter expert for input/updates to the product service manuals such as CMMs, AMMs, and other pertinent documents
• Performing cross-training of other team-members to ensure adequate skill crossover for secondary shifts/vacation/surge-demand
• Attending all related customer and partner meetings as needed
• During periods of downtime, support standard operations team with other aircraft reworks (training provided)
• Performing other duties as needed during times of excess demand such as assisting other field service activities at request of the local site Manager
Requirements:
• Associate degree or a minimum of one year certificate from college or technical school or Associate Degree from a Junior College in a technical field; four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to work first and second shift with flexibility for travel, and work OT
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to work independently or as a team in a fast-paced environment
• Have high standards for your work
• Ability to clear a background check, drug screen, and obtain a Boeing badge and passport
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal software applications
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25lbs
• Ability to crouch, kneel, lay, and work in various positions and potentially tight spaces for periods at a time, in various environments
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
Preferred Qualifications:
• Have previous work experience in electronics and equipment using wiring diagrams, service manuals, layouts, and other detailed information
• Ability to be on a rotation for 24/7 aviation technical support coverage. This position is typically 1st shift, but the candidate will need to change as required based on work demand
• Ability to travel as required and obtain a passport
• Must demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Must demonstrate a superior customer-oriented attitude
Must demonstrate strong/broad knowledge of aircraft systems and avionics sub¬ systems
• Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems, a multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work proactively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
• Repairman certificate or line maintenance license (A&P, B2, B1) is desirable.
