What We Look For In a AP Physics 1 Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of kinematics, dynamics and Newton laws, circular motion and gravitation, energy, momentum, simple harmonic motion, torque and rotational motion, and electric charge and circuits as outlined in the AP Physics 1 framework. Ability to explain vector analysis, conservation laws, and rotational dynamics while preparing students for success on the AP Physics 1 algebra-based examination.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at breaking down free-body diagrams, energy conservation problems, and circuit analysis step-by-step. Guides students through solving multi-step kinematics problems, applying impulse-momentum theorem, analyzing rotational inertia scenarios, and designing experimental procedures. Emphasizes qualitative reasoning alongside quantitative problem-solving and connects physics to engineering and everyday phenomena.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with AP Physics 1 curriculum across seven units and common challenges such as distinguishing forces in free-body diagrams, applying conservation of energy to rotational systems, and writing experimental design free-response answers. Adapts instruction using demonstrations, PhET simulations, and AP-style practice to support students encountering physics concepts for the first time.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
