What We Look For In a GRE Tutor

• Advanced Graduate Test Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of GRE Verbal Reasoning (text completion, sentence equivalence, reading comprehension), Quantitative Reasoning (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis), and Analytical Writing (issue and argument essays). Ability to explain adaptive scoring, section-level strategy, and graduate school score requirements across disciplines.
• Strategic Reasoning & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching vocabulary building techniques, complex text analysis, quantitative comparison strategies, and essay structure. Guides students through eliminating answer choices, data interpretation, logical reasoning, and time management across 3 hour exam. Emphasizes higher-order thinking and academic writing skills appropriate for graduate-level expectations.
• Test Strategy & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with GRE format (computer-adaptive by section), common challenges including advanced vocabulary, geometry without formulas, and timed essay writing. Adapts instruction using official ETS materials, vocabulary flashcards, quantitative reasoning drills, and essay feedback. Requires minimum GRE score of 327 and experience preparing students for competitive graduate programs.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
