- Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of executive function skills including planning, organization, time management, task initiation, working memory, self-monitoring, emotional regulation, flexible thinking, and metacognition. Ability to explain the neurological basis of executive functioning, developmental timelines, and the impact of executive function deficits on academic performance while supporting students with ADHD and learning differences.
- Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching organizational systems, planning strategies, and self-regulation techniques. Guides students through implementing planner usage, breaking large assignments into manageable steps, developing study schedules, managing materials and digital files, and building self-monitoring habits. Emphasizes building student independence and transfers executive function skills across academic subjects, extracurricular activities, and daily life responsibilities.
- Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with executive functioning intervention approaches and common challenges such as task initiation difficulty, poor time estimation, and disorganization across multiple classes. Adapts instruction using visual organizers, checklists, digital tools, and coaching techniques to support students with ADHD, learning differences, and executive function delays from elementary through college levels.
- Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
