This is a 1.0 FTE non-continiung contract elementary teacher on special assignment (TOSA) position for the 2026 - 2027 school year. This position is 0.5 FTE at Endeavour Elementary School and 0.5 FTE at Serene Lake Elementary School.  Anticipated start date is as soon as possible.

 

 

JOB TITLE:  ELEMENTARY TOSA

 

JOB SUMMARY:  The Elementary TOSA provides leadership and professional development for the implementation of effective instruction. The Elementary TOSA partners with classroom teachers to strengthen Tier 1 instructional practices and improve student learning outcomes through MTSS. The TOSA models effective teaching strategies, analyzes student data, and supports the implementation of curriculum and school wide goals while fostering a culture of continuous professional growth.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Promotes the use of research-based instructional strategies by teachers through small group professional development, grade level, and professional learning communities, one-on-one mentoring of teachers, lesson demonstration, conferencing, and reflective questioning.
  • Model lessons, co-teach, and observe classrooms to provide feedback.
  • Coordinate learning walks with the principal to allow teachers to observe each other’s teaching.
  • Provides training and support for teachers of the 5D instructional framework, district curriculum, newly adopted instructional materials, current standards, and current state assessments.
  • Help teachers to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including ML, students with IEPs, and students identified as highly capable.
  • Support data-driven decision making in BLT and grade level teams.
  • Collaborate with special education, ML, and LAP/Title to align support services and instruction.
  • Supports new curriculum adoptions.
  • Co-develops and co-plans district—directed professional development; TRI & Waiver Days.
  • Instructs teachers on the use of student achievement data for the purpose of informing future instructional needs and strategies.
  • Provides training opportunities for staff during school, before and after school, and districted directed workshops.
  • Facilitates the alignment of instructional materials to content area standards; including implementation guides.
  • Collaborates with building principal to provide input about school improvement plans and staff development, and to support and track progress on the building-based goals and the district strategic plan.
  • Collaborates with other TOSA’s, staff and administration for the purpose of planning and implementing a well-coordinated district instructional program and effective use of available resources.
  • Coordinates with local ESD leadership networks and nearby district peers to maintain current understanding and knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, standards, and assessments
  • Implements and complies with District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintains consistent attendance and conforms to regular work hours specified under contract.
  • Fulfills other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skills and abilities in organization, time management and record keeping.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to strengthen job-related competencies.

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 

  • Elementary Endorsement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education. Master’s Degree in Education preferred.
  • Highly qualified in elementary curriculum.
  • Valid Washington State certification.
  • Completion of GLAD training.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience working with students of poverty and second language needs.
