PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for the total health service program in the school(s) according to established guidelines.

 

REPORTS TO: Lead Nurse/Cluster School Nurse

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: LPN= 108; ADN= 110; BSN/MSN= 111/112

WORK DAYS: 200

  

Requirements:

 

Education

 

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program

 

Experience, Skill, and Certification: 

Education Level: 

  • Valid Georgia nursing license
  • AHA or Red Cross BLS with hands on skill assessment
  • CPR certification (current)


Preferred: 

  • Pediatric experience
  • Experience in providing health instruction 
  • Medical biling experience 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  1. Provides nursing care for sudden illness or injury by opening the school health room. 
  1. Conducts mass screenings and other appraisal activities to assess the health status of students.
  1. Promotes communicable disease control through exclusion/readmission authorization of students having a contagious disease or condition.
  1. Assists students to achieve optimal levels of wellness through individual instruction.
  1. Works with parents, care providers, & community resources to meet students' health needs.
  1. Reviews and assesses student immunization records for required vaccinations.
  2. Assumes responsibility for personal continuing education and professional development.
  1. Secures and maintains AHA OR Red Cross BLS with hands on skills assessment CPR (preferably Instructor) certification. 
  1. Complies with directions of the lead nurse and/or cluster school nurse regarding nursing practices.
  1. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness and safety of the school. 
  1. Conducts Medicaid billing for eligible students.

                                    Additional duties and responsibilities for RN's 

  1. Mentors nursing students in accordance with District approved standards.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will be considered “at will.” This position is “essential personnel, critical staff” when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB-R, Title: Professional Personnel Time Schedules. Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade LPN= 108; ADN= 110; BSN/MSN= 111/1126 and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. The work calendar will be the 200 days classified calendar. This position is non-exempt.

Reading, listening, writing, and speaking are requirements. There are few exceptional physical or sensory demands, but there may be occasions that require the lifting or restraint of a student.
