Position Summary:

Facilitate the provision of effective specialized instruction and full compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)

1. Collaborate with principals in the supervision of special education staff and implementation of special education at individual school sites.
2. Provide special education teachers and related service providers direct consultation and coaching regarding effective specialized instruction practices.
3. Facilitate collection of data and assist in data analysis for the purpose of program evaluation and planning.
4. Assist in planning and providing high quality professional development for special education staff.
5. Serve as Local Education Agency representative as needed in Individual Education Program (IEP) and other decision-making meetings regarding special education for individual students.
6. Monitor and promote compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education ACT (IDEA) regulations, the Missouri Plan for Special Education, and the Local Compliance Plan.
7. Collaborate with colleagues outside of special education to ensure seamless support for students with disabilities, and clear communication between staff members.
8. Use technology effectively to manage documentation requirements.
9. Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
10. Comply with all district rules, regulations and policies.
11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)

• Master’s Degree in Special Education  
• Missouri certification in Special Education
• Documented knowledge of Special Education process
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent  organizational and time management skills

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of work year:  202 day calendar; 8 hrs/day, 5 days/week

KCPS Defined Benefit Pension plan – mandatory 9% contribution is required from employee and matched by KCPS; Voluntary retirement savings plans are also available.

Salary : $54,613 - $106,962
