POSITION OBJECTIVE:

 

The position of Student Success Coordinator is for the purpose of coordinating and implementing student conduct and behavior strategies for a safe and welcoming school environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

 

• Plans and implements student behavior and corrective action systems as directed by the school principal in collaboration with staff.
• May conduct informal investigations or reviews of student behavior incidents.
• Collaborates with parents/guardians with student supports and intervention plans.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with students, staff, and the community.
• Leads strategies such as restorative conversations, acts of responsibility and accountability, and school-based reward systems for positive behavior.
• Communicates directly and in a timely manner with parents/guardians and staff as a primary function of the position.
• Collaborates with staff, with a focus on communication and student and adult accountability and responsibility.
• Assists MTSS, grade level and REIL teams as required.
• Supervises students as required, including lunch, recess, and before and after school (arrival and departure).
• Serves as point of contact for student related issues regarding behavior, safety, and student conduct.
• Provides support and oversight of student activities as assigned, including school celebrations, assemblies, or other school sponsored activities.
• Collaborates with General School Assistants for oversight of campus supervision.
• Maintains student records related to the primary duties of the position.
• Participates in planning/collaboration meetings that are related to the primary duties of the position.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned .

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

 

• Reports directly to and is supervised by the school principal.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

 

Required:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent
• Previous experience working directly with students, including experience addressing student behavior.
• Background with PBIS or other student behavior strategies

Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology or other related field.

Allowable Substitutions:
• Previous experience may be considered.

  

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):

 

• First Aid and CPR certification required.

 

KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):

 

• Demonstrates knowledge of effective communication strategies with students and staff.
• Understands the relationship between student behavior and success in school.
• Understands the basics of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)


SKILLS (position requirements at entry):

 

• Demonstrates skills associated with deescalation, such as Safety Care
• Possesses basic skills for conflict management.
• Works effectively within a team environment
• Communicates effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations.
• Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

 

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

 

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

AISP pay range E $ 33.90/hour to $ 35.85/hour (starting hourly rate $ 33.90/hour) based on negotiated collective bargaining agreement. 40 hours per week for a 192-day annual assignment. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.


Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 630 hours worked within a school year. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
