What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Financial Officer position at Variner?
Overview:
Our client is a private equity-backed contract manufacturing and fabrication business. The business is located in the New England Area (75 min commute from Boston).
Role:
The CFO (first-time CFO) will lead the entire budgeting, forecasting and cash management functions for the organization. Additionally, the CFO will be responsible for running and owning ad-hoc strategic analysis to provide data driven insights to the CEO, Board, and lenders.
The CFO will own the planning process for the organization while working directly with business unit leadership on select operational and financial challenges and growth opportunities. This role will be a direct report to the Chief Executive Officer and will work closely with the board.
Responsibilities:
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and assist CEO with strategic planning for the organization
- Work with and present information to the CEO, General Managers, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders
- Develop an appropriate FP&A process with respect to the new growth trajectory of the business and translate operational results into actionable corporate finance insights
- Build and lead a team of in-house and remote employees
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective planning and analysis function that will provide the board appropriate analytical tools to establish goals and measure performance of the business.
- Help drive robust KPI’s and metrics that help the business gain better insights into how they are performing, managing cash, and growing
- Help maintain and own the company’s cash management model in a way that is dynamic and allows the business to make optimal capital allocation decisions
Qualifications:
- Strong academic pedigree (Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred)
- 10-15 years of related financial advisory and corporate finance work experience
- Prior CFO work experience required
- Understanding marginal costs and what a BOM is - also required.
