Plant Install Crew

Variegated NYC is a growing interior landscaping company that designs, installs, and maintains stunning interior plantscapes and provides exquisite floral arrangements for a diverse clientele across New York City. Our mission is to create vibrant, healthy environments that elevate the spaces where people live and work.

We're looking for a hands-on Plant Install Crew Member to support the preparation, staging, and delivery of interior plant projects for our enterprise clients. This role is centered on studio and warehouse work: building out plant installations before they ship, loading trucks, and delivering and placing finished work at client sites across the city. A valid driver's license and comfort driving box trucks and cargo vans in NYC are required.

Responsibilities

Studio and Warehouse Prep

• Prep and assemble plant projects in the studio and warehouse, including potting plants, staging containers, adding soil and drainage, and dressing finished pieces
• Pull and organize plant inventory, containers, tools, and materials for upcoming installs based on project specs and pull sheets
• Quality-check every piece before it ships, confirming plant health, container condition, and that each project matches the design intent
• Stage completed projects in an organized, install-ready sequence so loading runs smoothly
• Keep the studio and warehouse clean, orderly, and safe throughout the day, including breaking down packaging, managing soil and plant waste, and returning tools to their place

Loading and Transport

• Plan and load trucks so that projects arrive undamaged and in the order they'll be installed
• Secure plants, containers, and materials properly using straps, blankets, and dollies to prevent shifting or damage in transit
• Drive company box trucks and cargo vans to client sites throughout NYC and the surrounding area, navigating city traffic, parking, and loading zones
• Manage the logistics of each run, including route order, timing, and coordinating arrival windows with clients or building staff

On-Site Delivery and Install

• Deliver, carry, and place plant installations on-site according to the design plan and client expectations
• Move projects through buildings using freight elevators, loading docks, and service entrances while following building rules and protocols
• Set up and position finished pieces cleanly, doing final touch-ups and clean-up so the space is client-ready before you leave
• Represent Variegated professionally on-site, communicating clearly and courteously with clients, building management, and other trades

Team Support

• Support the care and install team with related tasks during busier periods or larger projects
• Communicate proactively with the Care and Install Lead about inventory needs, vehicle issues, scheduling conflicts, or anything affecting a delivery

Requirements

Required

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Comfort and confidence operating box trucks and cargo vans in dense city traffic, including parking, backing up, and managing tight loading situations
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy plants, containers, and materials (up to 50 lbs regularly, more with a partner or equipment)
• Physical stamina to stay active throughout the day, including frequent lifting, bending, standing, and climbing stairs
• Reliability and punctuality, since deliveries run on tight, scheduled windows
• Detail orientation and genuine pride in producing clean, polished finished work
• Clear communication and a team-first attitude
• Authorization to work in the US

Preferred

• Prior experience with plants, interior landscaping, horticulture, or a related green industry
• Background in warehouse, moving, delivery, install, or logistics work
• Familiarity navigating and driving in NYC, including knowledge of parking rules and commercial loading zones
• Experience working in commercial or corporate environments and interacting with clients or building staff
• Comfort using a smartphone or tablet for schedules, pull sheets, or route information

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
