POSITION OVERVIEW:                        

TITLE: Math Interventionist (Certified)

LOCATION(S): Varennes Elementary School

SCHOOL YEAR: 2026-2027

STATUS/FLSA:   Full-time/Exempt

PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP:  Teacher  

DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time: (0); Part-time (0 )

SUPERVISOR: Principal(s)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  190 Days (if employed for the full contract calendar). Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance evaluated by the Principal.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The teacher will deliver high-impact instructional strategies and set goals for students in tier 2 or tier 3 instruction. This position provides essential support and ensures cohesive implementation of the MTSS framework.

EDUCATION: Completion of a Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years in an elementary school instructional role

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

• REQUIRED: SC Teaching Certificate 
• PREFERRED: EC and ELEM certified

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Plan differentiated small-group instruction.
• Assist and provide instruction to group(s) of students, either in math, who need intervention plans for tier 2 or tier 3
• Analyze data for individual students and student subgroups to determine at-risk students and students not on track for meeting annual academic requirements.
• Participates as an integral member of the school's intervention or other at-risk teams.
• Participate in regularly scheduled problem-solving team meetings to review student data trends and adjust system-level supports..
• Regularly assess the impact of specific intervention programs and curriculum to determine their return on investment regarding student growth.
• Assist in the establishment of goals, objectives, and strategies to promote improvement in student achievement, effective instruction, test scores, parental and community support, and professional development.
• Analyze data to determine appropriate student placements.
• Manage all intervention plans for their caseload.
• Maintain uniform school-wide procedures for documenting interventions and progress monitoring to ensure consistency and legal compliance.
• Clearly communicates intervention goals and progress to families in an accessible way.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: 

• Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
• Prepare the required documents and reports on the progress of the MTSS process.
• Participate in staff development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Board policy, code of conduct, and school handbook; Knowledge of District curriculum and state standards; Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, pedagogy, and content; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Knowledge of basic computer operations; Ability to multitask effectively; Ability to lead and guide others; Good organizational skills.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USAGE:

Use computers for data entry; or handle, use, or repair hand-held power equipment or light machinery; Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, or custom applications.
