TITLE: Instructional Support Assistant
LOCATION: Varennes Elementary School
SCHOOL YEAR: 2025-2026
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum high school diploma
- Meets the Highly Qualified status based on the ESEA requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of the school instructional team with students, parents, and instructional staff
- Effective oral and written communication skills
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in providing a positive classroom environment in which students can benefit from the instructional program
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares for and assists with classroom activities under the supervision of a highly qualified teacher.
- Works with students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
- Provides individual and small group instruction.
- Guides independent study and enrichment work assigned by the teacher.
- Assists students in utilizing technology.
- Maintains confidentiality concerning student records, data, and personal information
- Utilizes planning time in the classroom under the direction of the teacher.
- Participates in staff development programs provided by the school district as appropriate.
- In conjunction with the teacher, plans, prepares, and develops individual and small group lessons.
- Monitors and reports student progress.
- Performs other duties as directed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 days (if employed for full contract calendar). Salary is to be determined by the salary schedule established by the Board. (Teaching Assistants Salary Schedule)
EVALUATION: The performance of the job will be evaluated annually by the Principal.
