Role Description
The Lease Acquisition Agent will work directly with Vaquero’s Land and A&D teams to negotiate and acquire oil and gas leases. This role is focused on direct landowner engagement, negotiation, and execution, not title-only or back-office support.
Responsibilities
- Conduct direct outreach and in-person negotiations with mineral and surface owners
- Negotiate and execute oil and gas leases within assigned areas
- Research ownership through county records and online databases as needed
- Track leasing activity, conversations, and deal progress
- Manage multiple negotiations and priorities in a dynamic environment
- Represent Vaquero professionally in all landowner interactions
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate documentation and reporting
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in face-to-face settings
- Ability to operate independently and meet production expectations
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, performance-driven environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
- Mid-Continent or Oklahoma leasing experience
- AAPL membership
- Background in Energy Management, Business, or related field
- Experience working defined territories and meeting leasing targets
