Position Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist/Medical Records Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate understands that kindness, professionalism, and efficiency are essential in a healthcare setting. This role is the first point of contact for patients and requires excellent customer service skills, strong organizational ability, and medical office experience. This role also provides administrative support, including medical records management and accounts payable processing
HOURS: Monday through Friday 9:30 am -6:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Warmly greet and assist patients, families, and visitors
- Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information
- Maintain and organize medical records (electronic and paper as applicable)
- Handle accounts payable and basic administrative support
- Answer and route phone calls professionally
- Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
- Input vendor invoices and supporting invoice processing
- Organize and route invoices for review and approval
- Receive and scan all documents from the front desk and clinical deptartments
- Respond to patient medical records requests promptly and accurately transmit via fax, mail, or secured email/portals to requesting parties(i.e. attorney/legal office, insurance companies, 3rd parties or patients)
- Handle daily mail
- Prepare daily charts for upcoming appointments
- Track status of Operative Reports dictated by physicians, electronically file and log
- Maintain effective working relationships with peers and management and functions as an effective team member
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical office or ambulatory surgery center is required
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience with medical records management
- Familiarity with accounts payable process-Experience with Sage Intacct a PLUS
- Strong computer skills and comfort with EMR systems-Experience with HST a PLUS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is essential
- Professional appearance and demeanor- Professional business attire is required-scrubs are not permitted
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
