Position Summary

Essential Functions
- Collaborate with faculty, academic staff, and members of the Vanguard community to advance the division's mission and objectives through strategic partnerships, effective communication, and the implementation of initiatives that promote excellence in teaching and learning.
- Plan and facilitate gatherings and special events by establishing clear goals and agendas, coordinating dates, times, venues, budgets, attendance, and facility logistics. Make sure events align with divisional priorities, foster engagement among participants, and are executed with excellence and overall effectiveness.
- Facilitate professional development for faculty, academic staff, and divisional colleagues, ensuring alignment with academic affairs priorities, divisional goals, and individual expertise.
- Manage the budgeting functions for the Teaching and Learning division, including annual budget planning, forecasting, monitoring expenditures, and reconciling accounts across the departments. Provide oversight and training to departmental coordinators to secure fiscal responsibility and alignment with institutional goals.
- Exercise independent judgment in division-wide decisions and represent the Dean in her absence. Serve as a key liaison between the division, faculty, academic staff, administrative offices, and external groups on various matters.
- Hire, mentor, and supervise Teaching and Learning interns. Provide guidance and leadership on program goals, logistics, and development. Hire and manage student fellows, oversee any faculty and student fellow programs.
- Compose and prepare a variety of written materials, including budget reports, announcements, and updates for the Teaching and Learning website and Faculty Central. Develop and assist with communications for the Provost, Board of Trustees, and the broader campus community that assess, evaluate, and report on the division's strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Lead the planning and production of GoodNews-VU, a recurring academic affairs update shared with the Vanguard community. Create the slide deck, record and edit the Provost's video messages, draft the announcement email, and distribute updates to internal stakeholders. Share summaries with faculty representatives, academic leaders, and VU marketing to spotlight faculty and academic staff achievements.
- Demonstrate strong professional writing and copy-editing skills to guarantee accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all written content, including reports, announcements, and digital materials. Collaborate with faculty and staff to gather, organize, and distribute information effectively, confirming alignment with institutional messaging and enhancing internal and external communications.
- Plan, compile, research, and coordinate special projects as assigned. Analyze specific procedures, policies, and workflows and address internal and external challenges and issues within the division. Utilize project management skills to support the successful execution of projects.
- Maintain confidential faculty files with a high level of discretion and accuracy, while upholding compliance with institutional policies and privacy regulations. Organize, update, and securely store records related to faculty development.
- Collaborate with the Director of Hybrid and Emerging Pedagogy in managing the repository of faculty tools and resources for effective teaching within the Teaching and Learning knowledge base.
- Partner with the Faculty Development Committee to optimize the strategic use of professional development funding, while maintaining equitable access and alignment with institutional goals. Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of key initiatives proposed by the committee, including workshops, learning communities, and other faculty enrichment opportunities that enhance teaching effectiveness and academic engagement.
- Provide support and serve as a valuable thought partner to the Dean. Coordinate and collaborate with the Provost's Associate Director to achieve overarching academic division goals.
- Perform additional duties and fulfill requirements as assigned.
- Master's degree.
- 5 years of experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability in innovative and effective program management, working independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders through excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in all applications within the Microsoft 365 suite.
- Knowledge of WordPress and intermediate website publishing skills.
- Proficiency in basic video editing and production, with the ability to create polished visual content aligned with institutional messaging.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with individuals at all organizational levels to achieve goals.
- Strong professional writing and copy-editing skills for accurate and polished internal and external communications.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy.
- Experience in project management, ensuring timely completion and successful outcomes.
- Familiarity with and commitment to the mission, values, and philosophies of Vanguard University.
- 10 years of higher education experience.
- Doctoral degree.
- Teaching credential and/or related master's degree.
- Experience in a sales and marketing function, allowing for high trust (character and competence), nourishing, enduring, consultative relationship-building capacities.
