Adjunct Faculty - Early Childhood Education

POSITION SUMMARY: The Adjunct Faculty of the Early Childhood Education program assures academic integrity, educational quality, and student advisement services of this program, which is housed within the School of Education. May teach graduate or undergraduate courses, depending on experience and education. Adjunct assignments are determined on a semester-by-semester basis and depend upon student enrollment.

Vanguard seeks professionals of Christian faith who are committed to integration of faith and learning in their respective fields. The applicants must have demonstrated teaching ability and a commitment to working with students of color and encouraging diversity.

Essential Functions

Current knowledge of the content:

• Posses up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of early childhood education content, theories, and methodologies aligned with constructivism.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in the field to ensure the delivery of cutting-edge and effective educational practices.
  
  

Knowledge of the current context of public schooling including the California adopted P-12 content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems:

• Familiarity with California adopted P-12 content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems.
• Ability to integrate these standards into course curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Stay informed about changes and updates in public schooling policies and practices to provide students with relevant and applicable knowledge and skills.
  
  

Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation:

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of diversity in all its dimensions including abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, religion, gender orientation, SEC, race,
• Integrate inclusive and culturally responsive teaching practices into the curriculum, such as Anti-Bias Curriculum
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects and celebrates the diversity of each student and their family.
  
  

Demonstration of effective professional practices in teaching and learning, scholarship, and service:

• Exhibit excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and learner-centered pedagogical approaches.
• Engage in scholarly activities, such as research and publication, to contribute to the academic field and enhance personal and institutional knowledge.
• Actively participate in service activities, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to the broader education professional community
• Implement and model ethical and professional behavior in all interactions with students, colleagues, and the wider community.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher required in early childhood education or related field
• A bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field along with extensive classroom experience may also be considered for lower-division courses only
• Experience in teaching adult learners in early childhood education
• Experience in teaching children ages 0-8
• Deep personal faith in Christ with theological commitments consistent with those of Vanguard University.
  
  

SALARY: Part-time. The following salary range reflects compensation paid for a 3-unit course (144 total hours), and varies based on the faculty member's highest earned degree. Total compensation is based on the number of courses taught and corresponding units for each course.

$3,120 to $3,720 per course
