Role Overview
Vanguard Theater Company is seeking Audio Technicians (A1 & A2) to join the technical team for Summerstock and Day Camp 2026. These positions support multiple productions throughout the summer in both residential and day-program settings.
The audio team is responsible for the full care, operation, and management of all sound equipment from load-in through load-out, ensuring systems remain organized, functional, and properly maintained throughout the summer.
We are seeking applicants available for either or both programs.
Summerstock - Residential
Location: Elmer, NJ
Dates: ~August 1 - 17, 2026
Compensation: $800–$2,000 stipend (based on position & experience)
(Housing & meals provided)
Please note: Summerstock is a residential theater program serving performers ages 12–19. Audio team members live on-site for the duration of the program and should be excited by an immersive, fast-paced, and collaborative camp-based theater environment.
Day Camp – Peter Pan Jr.
Location: Montclair, NJ
Camp Ages: 8–13
Tech: July 27–28, 2026 (9:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Performances: July 29–30, 2026 (4:00 PM & 7:30 PM)
Compensation: $750 (A1)
(Housing and meals NOT provided)
Please note: Day Camp positions work with younger performers in an educational theater setting and should be comfortable in fast-paced rehearsal environments focused on mentorship, collaboration, and youth arts education.
A1 – Lead Audio Technician / Sound Designer
The A1 will serve as the lead audio engineer for assigned productions and oversee all sound-related elements of the shows.
A2 – Audio Technician
The A2 will assist in operating and maintaining the audio department throughout the summer season.
Ideal Candidates

Have experience with live theatrical sound systems and wireless microphones

Experience working in educational or youth theater environments is a plus
