Role Description The Finish Touch Up Tech is a full-time, on-site role based at Vanguard Furniture’s Hillsville, VA manufacturing location. This role is responsible for inspecting finished furniture pieces for surface imperfections and performing detailed touch-up work to ensure high-quality finishes. Day-to-day tasks include color matching stains and paints, repairing minor defects such as scratches or dents, and applying finish materials using appropriate tools and techniques. The Finish Touch Up Tech collaborates closely with production and quality teams to meet aesthetic standards and project timelines while following safety guidelines and company procedures. Accuracy, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship are essential in delivering furniture that reflects Vanguard’s standards of style and value.

Qualifications

• Skill in using hand tools and finishing equipment (e.g., brushes, spray guns, sanders) to repair and enhance wood and upholstered surfaces.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control, with the ability to identify surface defects and perform precise corrective work.
• Understanding of finishing materials, wood characteristics, and basic manufacturing processes in a production environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read work orders, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and production teams.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move furniture components as needed, and work safely with chemicals and tools.
• Commitment to workplace safety, housekeeping standards, and adherence to environmental and recycling practices.

Preferred but not required:

• Experience with furniture finishing, touch-up, or refinishing, including color matching stains, paints, and topcoats.
• Prior experience in furniture manufacturing, cabinetry, or related finishing work is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
