What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRIMMER position at Vanguard Furniture Co Inc?
Position Summary: Upholsters outside sections of chairs and sofas, utilizing knowledge of upholstery procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
Transports frames to and from work station.
Lifts frame onto bucks.
Tacks cardboard, padding and upholstery material to top, side and bottom rails of outside arms, fitting and shaping materials to obtain specified contour using staple gun, staple puller, scissors and regulator.
Removes frame from bucks.
Responsible for fixing their own repairs before starting on new piece.
Maintains neat and orderly workstation.
Wears required safety glasses and work shoes; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.
Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must be knowledgeable in upholstery methods and be able to complete job to quality specifications.
English required for reading tickets and job notes.
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
At least two years experience with outside trimming
Knowledge of waterfalls
Physical demands and work environment:
Lift / Carry: Lifting in Excess of 50 lbs.; team lift greater weights. Must be able to lift/remove frame from bucks.
Standing: Must be able to stand 8 hours.
Push / Pull: Slide furniture into designated work areas.
Reach / Handle: Repetitive motions (pinching and pulling).
Tool Usage: Required to use staple gun, staple puller, regulator and scissors the entire shift.
Automation: Scissor lift for positioning.
Near Acuity:Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for
precision.
