Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide soldering support to the SMT line in a timely manner, remove and replace SMT components on printed circuit boards to specification, inspect own work to guarantee conformation to company quality standards, and provide an overall stewardship of the assets to our shareholders.

Under limited supervision, performs a wide variety of SMT functions, including ground plane soldering and SMT Soldering of electronic components including resistors, capacitors, connectors, IC's, switches, crystals, using no-clean and organic flux and both lead and lead-free solder at a IPC Class II and Class III levels.

Basic knowledge of the assigned functions is preferred, but will consider those with limited or no prior experience.

  • Effectively manipulate extremely small and/or fragile components and tools.
  • Ability to use visual aids, complicated drawings to verify quality products.
  • Communicate in person, over the phone, email, internet or in writing in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make productive use of time
  • Ability to read, write and communicate English.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematic calculations ( add, subtract, divide)
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all Vanguard’s policies, processes and workplace guidelines.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three or more years of experience with electronic components preferred
  • IPC Certification
  • Experience soldering lead-free components

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses production equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision.
