Duties
- Use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy according to schematics and GD&T standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation of tooling designs, modifications, maintenance logs, and schematics for future reference.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot tooling issues and optimize machining processes.
- Conduct regular inspections of tools using precision measuring instruments to ensure longevity and performance.
- Support assembly of tooling components with hand tools and fabrication equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Continuously improve tooling processes by applying mechanical knowledge, math skills, and manufacturing best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Toolmaker or in a similar manufacturing role with a strong background in machining and fabrication.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles for precise measurement and quality control of tooling parts.
- Ability to operate precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other gauges accurately.
- Work with a tolerance of /- .0002
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of schematics, electrical systems related to machinery, and fabrication techniques.
- Strong math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters.
- Familiarity with assembly procedures using hand tools and fabrication equipment while maintaining safety standards.
