GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Quality Control Manager leads, manages, and continuously improves quality assurance programs to ensure that all products meet internal and external food safety, regulatory, and quality standards. . This role requires expertise in FDA, USDA-FSIS, GFSI (e.g. BRCGS), and customer-specific standards. The QC Manager drives quality performance through data analysis, team development, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration. This position plays a key leadership role in promoting a proactive, food-safety-first culture across the facility.PRINCIPAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESReports to Director, Food Safety & Quality Assurance.Champion and ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations (FDA, USDA-FSIS) and customer quality expectations.Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of GFSI-certified programs (e.g. BRCGS) and internal quality systems.Supervise and develop the Quality Control Technician team, ensuring strong performance, accuracy in testing, and consistent application of quality policies.Oversee sanitation compliance and monitor Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).Serve as an active member of the HACCP and Food Safety Team; ensure robust and validated hazard controls across all processing steps.Manage internal and external laboratory testing programs; analyze results and communicate trends or issues to leadership.Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformances, customer complaints, audit findings, and internal quality issues.Support third-party audits, regulatory inspections, and customer visits-including preparing documentation and leading facility tours.Monitor and trend key quality metrics (e.g., CCP monitoring, foreign material control, customer complaints); drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.Serve as the primary liaison between production, sanitation, maintenance, and supply chain on all quality matters.Provide quality input and guidance during new product launches, changes in supplier ingredients, and scale-up of new processes.Maintain, update, and audit facility quality records and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.Assist with training programs for quality, food safety, GMPs, and HACCP to ensure ongoing staff development.Consult with customers, vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure that customer expectations and specifications are met.Make all final quality disposition decisions related to product release and hold/release status.Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and food safety excellence across the plant.REQUIREMENTSBachelor?s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related technical field.5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in quality assurance/control within the food manufacturing industry.Formal HACCP training and certification required; PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) preferred.Experience with GFSI certification schemes such as BRCGS, SQF, or FSSC22000.Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (FDA FSMA, USDA-FSIS, allergen controls, labeling).Skilled in root cause analysis (RCA), corrective action (CAPA), and quality risk assessments.Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities using data-driven tools.Ability to lead cross-functional teams and train others on quality procedures.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and audit preparation.Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage competing priorities and enforce quality standards.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverage (eligible after 90 days of employment or during open enrollment)Two weeks PTO to startTen paid holidays after the completion of 60 day probationary period401k-company contributes 1% of weekly pay and matches 100% of the next 4% (eligible the following quarter after the completion of one year)Life insurance of two times your annual salary up to $150,000
