About VanderSalm's: VanderSalm's is a local family-owned business that has been a part of the Kalamazoo community for over 100 years. We are dedicated to bringing beauty and joy into people's lives through our stunning selection of flowers, plants, and gifts. We're seeking a passionate and customer-oriented Sales Clerk to join our team.
This is a four day a week position with hours being 8:30am-5:30pm, and more hours around holidays (i.e. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and Christmas). Saturdays are required.
Position Summary: As a Sales Associate, you'll play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and contributing to the overall success of our business. Your duties will include:
- Assisting customers in-store and over the phone
- Processing sales using our point-of-sale system
- Preparing and processing flowers
- Creating beautiful planters, wrapped bouquets, and gift baskets
- Maintaining a clean and organized store environment
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service skills with a positive and friendly demeanor
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with computers and point-of-sale systems
- Passion for flowers, plants, and gardening
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
