Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with all phases of collection litigation matters in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota;
- Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, notices, judgment, garnishments, and other legal documents related to collections and creditor remedies;
- Prepare and electronically file court documents in state and federal courts;
- Coordinate service of process, publication, and recording requirements;
- Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and court officials;
- Maintain accurate case calendars, deadlines, and case management systems;
- Assist with commercial collection matters, including litigation support, discovery, and post-judgment remedies;
- Support attorneys in hearings, mediations, and trial preparation as needed;
- Draft demand letters and pre-litigation notices; and
- Prepare case summaries for attorneys;
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of state court filing procedures and electronic filing systems;
- Strong understanding of legal processes, and post judgment remedies;
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced legal environment;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail and organization abilities;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software;
- Possess knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent;
- Maintain a high level of communication and update the supervising attorney as to the status of the various open matters;
- Work requires full-time effort to perform the essential duties of the position;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
- Experience in collections, is a plus.
