Job Description
The Siciliano lab from the Department of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University is seeking a self-motivated Research Assistant II. Our lab research focuses on addiction and sensory neuroscience using cutting-edge technology to trace neural sensory tracts in combination with immunohistochemistry, optogenetics, in vivo fiber photometry, and behavioral pharmacology in rodents. The individual hired for this position will be expected to assist with experiments and commit to a minimum of 2 years.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage mouse colonies (experience with rodent colony management preferred)
• Experience with rodent behavior is preferred
• Experience with programmable microprocessors is a plus.
• Maintain laboratory inventories and ensure proper record-keeping
• Prepare reagents and other laboratory materials as needed
• Take initiative in delivering accurate results on time
• Collaborate and respond effectively to team needs
• Communicate clearly with lab members to ensure smooth workflow
• Trains new trainees and staff
• Self-motivation with a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability is necessary

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in chemistry, biochemistry or similar field is necessary
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community is necessary.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities is strongly preferred.
Vanderbilt experience is preferred.
