Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Designer - Home Décor, based in New York, NY. As an Assistant Designer, you will support the design and product development process in tableware, home decor, and kitchen accessories categories, including market research, design concepts, tech packs, presentation prep, and more. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with the sourcing and sales teams to ensure all designs align with the company’s brands and visions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating designs for tabletop products, including dinnerware, serveware, and decorative accessories.
- Develop sketches and illustrations using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to visualize concepts.
- Support the product development process by preparing CAD files and technical drawings for manufacturing.
- Collaborate with senior designers to refine designs based on feedback and market trends.
- Contribute to the creation of mood boards, presentation materials, and trend reports.
- Assist in the management of product lifecycle from initial concept through production stages.
- Conduct research on current trends.
- Maintain organized files of design iterations, sketches, and digital assets.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) is essential.
- Working knowledge of 3D programs such as SolidWorks, KeyShot, and/or Rhino a plus.
- Basic knowledge and interest in the Kitchen and Dining category.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills with an eye for detail and aesthetics.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant design work is highly desirable.
