Mechanical Assembler
Location: Richmond, VA
Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay: $21–$22 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary:
Under moderate to direct supervision, the Mechanical Assembler installs parts according to knowledge of the unit being assembled or by following manuals and diagrams. This role uses hand tools, power wrenches, gauges, and various power tools to perform operations on the assembly line.
Essential Functions:
- Install hydraulic and electrical components.
- Fasten parts together using bolts, screws, spaced clips, rivets, cotter pins, or other fasteners with hand tools and pneumatic tools.
- Position and bolt engine block components to the truck body using wrenches, hammer, and power hoist.
- Bolt subassemblies, power module, fan housing, and set fan clearance using torque wrenches and other tools.
- Operate drills, riveting machines, or hydraulic crimping machines during assembly operations.
- Identify, distribute, and organize parts in proper locations.
- Perform test runs of assemblies to verify proper function.
- Operate forklift and crane/hoist when required.
- Accurately record work order information and complete inventory transactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken English.
- Proficient with power tools and hand tools.
- Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and good hand–eye coordination.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1–8 years of mechanical assembly experience; experience in a similar environment strongly preferred.
- Must provide own basic tool kit (socket set, wrenches—standard & metric, screwdrivers) and storage.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle components.
- Reaching with arms and hands.
- Good hearing required.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 lbs independently.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 36–100 lbs with assistance.
- Standing and walking on concrete surfaces for extended periods.
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Climbing up to 8 feet.
- Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Work performed in a loud manufacturing environment
Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
