POSITION SUMMARY:
The Merchandising Specialist reports directly to the Merchandising Manager and supports implementation of the merchandising plan, ensuring the presentation of merchandise provides the customer with a quality experience.
The Merchandising Specialist executes, in collaboration with the Merchandising Manager, on Van Marcke wholesale and Van Marcke Ace Hardware store openings, remodels, layout changes, relocations and closures. The Specialist plans and implements planograms in existing stores and supports the creation, planning and stocking of product displays that appeal to our customers and encourage product purchases. In collaboration with direct manager and store managers, the Specialist assesses business needs and monitors merchandising standards.
The Merchandising Specialist collaborates with and supports the Merchandising Manager and VMTS colleagues to implement strategies and best practices, while taking advantage of opportunities for personal growth.

Merchandising Responsibilities
- Collaborate and assist in implementing the standard for merchandising initiatives at Van Marcke, resulting in a neat, clean and organized sales floor and counter experience.
- Construct appealing merchandise displays that promote strong sales and store traffic.
- Collaborate and assist in the execution of all Van Marcke wholesale and Van Marcke Ace Hardware store openings, remodels, layout changes, relocations and closures.
- Collaborate and assist Merchandising Manager on use of planogram tool to plan store layout, merchandise placement, and product displays in new and existing stores.
- Assist with level 2 & 3 Ace Discovery Sets in multiple Ace stores.
- Support inventory operations through preparation, unloading, labeling and stocking of merchandise during new store openings and large planogram updates.
- Resolve issues with fixtures, signage, equipment and/or supplies.
- Consistently update direct manager on work issues, tools needed, consistency of product groups within each store, and the anticipated timeline to rectify any issues.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with store managers.
- Print Bin Product Tags as needed.
- Assign Bin Product Locations, as needed.
- Identify where new product will be placed prior to product arrival in the stores. Add to existing planogram, including bin product locations.
- Provide detailed descriptions for store employees to set up new product displays.
- Visit and assess each store on an ongoing basis; ensure the store has the merchandise-related materials and tools to be successful.
- Handle products in a safe manner; report damaged product to the responsible colleague.
- Adhere to all Van Marcke company policies, procedures and safety regulations.
- Model VMTS values and commitment to deliver quality services to our customers.

- 2-year Associate’s degree in business or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 2-4 years of experience in an increasingly responsible merchandising role.
- Strong knowledge of merchandising in wholesale, retail or manufacturing industries; handles increasingly complex issues with minimal oversight.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is a plus); SAP software is a plus.
- Possess basic plumbing product knowledge.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
- Required total out-of-office travel of 50%-70%:
- includes greater Phoenix area, Casa Grande and Tucson, and,
- up to 25%-30% travel out-of-state (NV/TX).
